Default Grinding going into High

Hi, I'm very new to polaris quads and am curious if it is normal to do a little gear grinding noise when going into high. I have a 500 EFI sportsman with EBS and every other time I put it into high it grinds for a short time (about 2 seconds) then finally goes into gear. Is this normal. Another thing is 1200 RPM the normal idle? Thanks for any help you might be able to lend.

1200 rpm is normal--grinding is not-sounds like your gear selector linkage is not adjusted correctly if it is then probably a trans prob

Actually I find it worse when slamming it into gear. It is going into the shop on thursday to have some wheel studs replaced so I'm going to mention it.

You shouldn't have to slam it into gear, but a firm nudge should do it. I've never had any grinding from mine.

It's not soo much a grinding. It just sounds like gears rolling over each other. It's hard to describe. I noticed it can be a little difficult to shift between gears. Takes a little more then a nudge.

they do shift hard and sound kinda rough but that part is normal. grinding such as going from l.range to high w/out stopping isnt normal. the rpm range is right so its not because its idling to high. bring it to their attention and if they say it normal ask to see ( hear it) on another model so you can hear for your self.
