Default 05 Scrambler bearing failure AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Hi Rick,

New to this forum (looks great, pity I'm in the UK - you US guys seem to have best country for quads).

Got 2005 Scrambler 500 H.O and have same probelem exactly as you describe with rear axle bearing.

Second one failed in 3 months with only 200 miles of on/off raod work (what it was designed for) in England and Wales hills.

Did you ever get to the bottom of the cause and sort a good solution - problem gone away?

Thanks.

Yes I am wondering too, what caused it? I now have 300hrs on my scrammy & still have
not touched the bearings, I have been in mud, water, lots of sand & snow. the only thing
I have done back there is put a new chain & front sprocket on & new rear brake pads!!

Oh well, perhaps third time lucky.

Let you know what I find/what happens.

Snow! Not seen any of that over this side of the pond for years (lots of water and mud though!!).

You can see what we get up to on www.quaduk.net http://www.quaduk.net/viewtopic.php?t=285

Thanks.

I grease mine after each ride, some grease comes out the side, I just put a couple pumps in, I grease the ball joints and A arms to get the water out mostly after each ride as well as the swing arm bushings.

OK guys, sorted the problem.

Wasn't bearing failure. What happened, and I did not notice it, was the collar on left of rear disc that pulls the bearing in to place, had loosened and unscrewed.

Simple when you know!

Thanks for all your input - Have fun! (Apparently we are getting snow this weekend - 2 inches and going next day - so much for UK winters - go and get very muddy anyway)
