What does Generation ll, lll, lV mean huh..............? they're for models years right...? if so...............what are the years to each Generation................?...........thanks and everyone have a great riding season............

 

Gen I covers the 1985 through-1988 models-GenII 89 and up on some and it gets complicated from there. There is a site that lists them all but the forum restriction won't let me put up the link for some reason

 

gen 3 , being trailblazers , scramblers n sports ........

 

gen 4 is prior to 05 i think

 

Gen I was the origonal trail boss / cyclone / etc up to I believe '88 as the previous poster mentions
Gen II was the remainder of the "metal rack" utility quads (and origonal Sport) up until as recently as '02 with the Xplorer 250
Gen III as the '95+ Sport/Scrambler/Trail Blazer up until today
Gen IV is the start of plastic racks quads in around '95 starting with the Xplorer 400 and of course the famous Sportsman 500 up until the most recent Magnums
Gen IV+ Was the same style as the GenIV but redesigned front end ('03 & '04 Sportsman I beleive, but not Magnums)
MY05 is current Sportsman line up to '07

I don't remember what they call the Predator/Outlaw/Sawtooth/Hawkeye

These are from memory, so I may be off a little but it was a shot.

gen 2 is the sled chassis from late '90 model to 2000 and 2001,gen 3 is the scrambler,, sport,
trail blazer plattfrom,and i don't known what is gen 4 yet...

 

Gen II covers a number of model years beginning in late 88. For example the trail boss 250 was a Gen II staring in late 88 through 92. Sled chassis? What?
