Default Clunk when put into gear.

I let someone ride my machine the other day and they shifted from drive to neutral drive while the machine was still revving quite a bit and it made a pretty loud clunk noise when going into gear. Could that have damaged anything. What in the transmission cuases the loud clunk noise?

Thanks for the wrthless advice^^^^^. I am not an idiot and realize that when a vehicle makes a noise like that it isn't a good thing. What I should have asked was if it happens once, does anyone think any damage was done?

in my experience. weve all done it once and if the bike works fine now, you should be ok. But ya, avoid doing again. Not sure what one guy did last week but it looks like he tried to jam in low while driving in high at decent speeds. It did a clunk and ceized... wasnt able to take it out of high at all after that. or drive it anywhere for that matter. so definitely not a good thing. But if your not experiencing any problems afterwards, you should be fine.
