Default 06 500EFI fuel mileage??

Just wondering my dad has the SP flame 06 500EFI, and has about 650 miles on it now, and my fatherinlaw has a 2006 800EFI, when the fillup, my dad's seems to be harder on gas for some reason, only by about 1.00/2.00 or so but what is up with that, being a 500 it should be alot better on fuel then a big twin. They both drive similar also!
Could there be something wrong with my dads making harder on gas then a 800 twin?

Thanks

I have done over 140 km twice now in a day. That was with some trail riding and some mud. I used to get 80 km max with my 700 carb.

There are more variables than just engine displacement. A person's riding style could affect fuel consumption, just like it does with cars.

They both have the same driving styles. SO I don't get it. Could there be something wrong.
He gets 55mph out of it and it seems to be fine, no visible problems.

On my 800EFI I get an averageof 80 miles to a tank
High side 90 low side 60
Depends on summer or winter, hills or no hills, low or high gear and the old LEAD FOOT FACTOR

I've never gone a full tank yet, but the most I've gone so far between fillups was 80km (50 miles) and it took around 11litres in a 15litre tank. So I had about a gallon left roughly after 80km.

bigger engine does not work as hard. Two freinds have diesle ford f 250's one a 2001 with the 7.3 litre and one with a 2004 6 litre and the 7.3 gets better mileage. Go figure!

I think the gear ratios are quite different between these two machines, compare rpm readings at the same mph between the two....

I regularly get 150-160kms on a tank with my carb 500. I think once it gets more miles it will get better....

That's more in line with what I was expecting to acheive mileage wise. When I first got the bike, the polaris dealer said the ODO was in miles. That told me I was getting about 80 miles (130km) on a little over 3/4 of a tank, so 150k would be about right.

Then I notice that the trek to the gas station from my house and back was clocking off at 2 miles .. seemed a bit long for the actual distance. So I clocked it in my car, and lo-and-behold .. my ODO is in km!! Big hit to the economy there!!!
