Default How do you remove the pull start?

The pull start recoil won't recoil the rope anymore....dang it all!

I've got a '93 350 4x4. I've got all the brackets off and the drive chain removed....but how do you get the recoil pulley off?

Thanks,

They have aligning pins that sometimes corrode and "freeze up". LIGHTLY tapping on the housing while pulling on it should do it. You could use a screw driver to stick in the rope hole and LIGHTLY pull outward. This and tapping should do the trick! Once off, hit the pins with a wire brush. Just use RTV on the sealing surface when putting it back on.

I bought this thing used and never tried the pull start until recently...and you know what... I think the whole damn spring was missing in the first place. I have the pull start housing off, I can see the wind pulley, but I don't see anything that looks like a spring. I should be able to see it right?
