Default 4x4 did not work

I have an 01 magnum 325. The 4 wheel drive did not work. I noticed the light was not lit on the AWD switch. After about 5 min of use it started to work.Has any one had this problem? Where do I start to check next time it acts up?

Is the Battary good in it? You need a good battery for the awd to work. You need to give us more info to help you figure it out.

components in 4wd system consist of

electromagnetic coils in the front hub/strut
your switch
reverse speed limiter
reverse speed limit overide

battery could be the problem but if your awd light is intermitant that is a good place to start at the switch

The battery is good. I wiggled the wires at the switch and checked the connections at the trans. I diddnt check if the rev limiter was working with the button out. Is there any thing I should check?? Thanks for the replys.

the usual prob with the reverse speed limter is it can get stuck on in any gear and you have to ride home. with the overide button in. but i would eliminate that anyway.
