sportsman 800HP ??????
Today when I call the local dealer to set up another ride on the 800 sportsman and the 800 outy, he said I might want to wait until mid summer to buy b/c they just got word that polaris is coming out with a sportsman 800HP (high performance) sometime next summer. He said it will be the same atv, but with different colors and graphics, but the main thing is the motor will be 795cc parallel twin EFI with 68hp at the crank.
Has anyone ever heard of this?????? I told the dealer that I personally don't need a quad that powerful since I don't really use all the power of my BF750. That is why I am starting to lean towards the 650outy 2up or the sportsman 800/500 X2.
Anyway, does anyone know anything?

From what I understand, he said there would be two polaris sportsman 800's. One would the what they sell now with 760cc's & 54hp at the crank and the other with 795cc's with 68hp at the crank. He said it will be the same motor but "hopped up." Body wise, he said will be the same but with different graphics and something in a deluxe finish with nice rims and tires, etc,.....etc. Has anyone else heard anything like this???????????

not to sound stupid, but if you already have a b.f 750 why would you want a sp 800 if you dont use all the power that you have since thats a powerful bike it self. just buy a 500 if its the good ride you want and save some $$. i heard that there is going to be an 07 1/2 yr models and maybe the 800 is one of them. thats what im waiting for to see if they do up the cc's. im not too happy about them making a standard/delux though at the price. so you can guess that the beefier engine will be big bucks.

That's a good question. The reason why I am looking at the 800 is I want the X2 (two seater) and I would be afraid that getting the 500 X2 might not be powerful enough. I have heard from some people that the 500 X2 does just fine, but my thought was if I got the 800 X2, then I would have enough power if needed......like going up a hill with an extra rider on back. I will know more about the power on the 500 this next week b/c I am going back to the dealer to ride the pol500 X2, as well as the pol800 X2 and also the can-am500 2-up, can-am 650 2-up and can-am800 2-up. I have narrowed my search down to these listed. As far as the power on the bf50 not being used to its full potential, that is currently true except when I move deer stands around etc. But when I purchase a 2-seater atv, then I plan on converting the bf750 into a monster mudder. That is where the bf750 will really shine with it's power.

Kind of strange how Polaris does with their models. Don't they have an option on the 700 SP for EFI or a carb? IMO it's just another way to create more marketshare. Going from a 760 to 795 means it's a different motor and not just hopped up, you can create more HP without enlarging the motor but you can't claim 35 more cc's if they weren't bored out to that.
Doesn't the SP come in a 400, 450, 500, 600, 700 and 800 all based on the same platform? Thats six models based on one platform, I just wonder how cost effective this is?

450 <Carburetion>, 500 EFI, 700 EFI, 800 EFI. S'all they make in the sportsman these days, not counting the X2 models and such the like. >.< But now they have three models of 'High Performance' quads. Will the Predator disappear from the lineup? - I've been of the mind they should beef the Trail Boss to 400cc. Just a thought!
