Jorgenstone, you will come to realize that the only thing on any of these threads that the can-am has over the polaris is drag speed. all though this is impressive i have been riding utility bikes for 6 years now and i have never met anyone who rides any make of bike and all they do is DRAG RACE with their 4x4. if you want to do that, buy a sport bike not a utilty quad. i say ride both and deside how they feel, the seat height is different and the steering is a little different, other than that they are both good bikes, and this comes from a die hard polaris guy. if you want, i am only 20km away, you feel free to come along on a ride and see what the polaris can do. unfortunately i do not know anyone who rides a can-am so you are on your own on that one.

And as far as Tom Tiller goes, he didnt claim that Polaris is the "best" company, just the "toughest" lol.. i know big difference huh? Just kidding. Its not that big of a deal to me, so yeah, i thought it would be pretty cool to see the challenge go through but o'well.. Good luck on your decision and let us know how you like that '07 Sportsman 500 H.O. EFI

Oh and btw, my 2 question.. Is cost a factor? And what type of terrain do you normally ride?

Umm. Cost really isn't a factor. Obviously everyone wants the best "Bang For Their Buck". So if spending a few extra thousand gets me what i want and what i will be happy with, i have no problem doing so. And at the same time im not gonna go spend every cent i have on buying the latest newest things. As far as what i will be riding. "ALL" terrain vehicle pretty much sums it up. I live in the canadian rockies. So instead of the normal 4 seasons that most ppl get. i get like 6 or 7 seasons.
If I were you and cost isn't a huge issue, I would get the 800. 500s nice. Plenty nice. But if your willing to spend the money why not just go with the more powerful quad because just about everybody wants more umph after they get comfortable. Could save you some money in the long run.

Both are nice machines. The pisser about the Can-Am though, and while most people think this is utterly trivial, is you would think for that kind of money it would at least include skid plates.

I must say, I like all of the built in features
you get with stock for the sportsman, front/rear
cargo boxes, lock&ride sysem, rear working
lights, On the fly AWD etc..

Not sure wear the BRP would compare. Alot
of people I know that have owned/ridden other
util quads all say the same thing that these
Polaris have the most comfortable
ride. I'm .. w/my 450, all the power/utility
I need ($5600 USD - out the door cost)

Whatever you decide between the two Vendors
products make sure that what model of theirs you
choose, that you are happy with and not settle for less.
(FYI, I originally bought a AC 250, discovered it was
too small, no power, no 4x4 and didn't meet my
needs. So I traded it up for a Sportsman 450)

Cheers,

R'

Thanks alot everyone for your opinions. When i started this thread i had my doubts about it becoming a "my manufacturer is better than yours just because it is" thread. For the most part everyone has given a fairly unbiased opinion. Thank you very much for that. My plans for riding a Polaris this weekend fell through. And for the next 2 weeks ill be working way up north. Thanks for the offer stealth but like i said i wont be around for a couple weeks. Ill keep everyone updated when i do purchase something. Anymore opinions are still helpful though. Thanks.

Then you need to decide for yourself if cost is a factor because the can am 500 cost roughly around $8,500!! Im sorry but for that, you could get the Sportsman 800, or the Sportsman 500 EFI and add racks, winch, bumpers, tires or whatever you want..
Where are you getting your numbers from? The 800 is $8750 so I highly doubt the 500 is only $250 less.

I looked it up, but maybe i got the wrong information and hopefully you can give me the correct price. The 800 non deluxe is $8300. And BRP is over priced in each class compared to its competition.

800 non deluxe is $8399 and the 800 BRP is $8749. So $350 is the difference. The Bomb gets a 42 month warranty while the Polaris is 6 months. The Polaris 3 year warranty is $600. And it's the same with all there models. Polaris is actually more money.

For all to see EFI comparison.

Can-Am 800 msrp $8749 with 42 month warranty
SP 800 msrp $8399 with 6 month warranty
Can-am 800 xt msrp $9649 with 42 months
SP800 deluxe msrp $9099 with 6 months

Grizz 700 msrp $7999 with 24 months
Honda 680 msrp $7899 with 6 months
Can-am 650 msrp $7899 with 42 months
SP700 msrp $7699 with 6 months
KQ700 msrp $7599 with 6 months
AC700 msrp $7599 with 36 months
Can-am 650XT msrp $8799 with 42 months
SP700 has no deluxe
AC700 LE msrp msrp 8499 with 36 months

Can-am 500 msrp $7299 with 42 months
SP500 msrp $6999 with 6 months
Can am 500XT msrp $8199 with 42 months
SP500 deluxe msrp $7699 with 6 months.

The difference in standard models is little with the sp not haveing EBS and steel wheels. The XT and deluxe both have nice wheels and tires and 2500lb winches with roller fairleads. The sp has there new ADC while the outty has it stock meaning 4 wheel ebs. The outty do come with front and rear bumpers and handguards with there XT to. So price wise there close with the edge going to the Can-am due to much longer warranty.

If I could only have one I would have to go with the polaris. The ride is what really sells me on them. They are both great ATV's, but like everyone else is saying you need to test them all for yourself and see what works best for you!
