I just got done looking at some different websites, and see a few sports and scramblers with the floor boards removed and they had on foot pegs and nerf bars. So what footpegs do ya use, I heard some come off of banshee's, so what about the nerf bars?

Most of the guys either remove all portions of the floorboards and attach a "Pro-Peg" style nerf, or they use the existing square tubing coming off the frame and bolt a peg up to it. I have heard that Banshee and 250R nerfs work the best. It is inevitable that you will need welding done. If you have 4x4 you are also face w/ the shaft being in the way. I too had this idea and I had also come up w/ a peg idea that noone has used yet.....needless to say, I think the floorboards and the fender protection from flying mud is more suited for the trails. I dont happen to be a mud man myself, but when the occasion arise's, they are nice to have.

Eventually I will eliminate mine as well, but for now I want to spend my $$ elsewhere.

I've thought about pulling the floor boards off my TB as well and putting nerfs on. But I've been warned by several people to think long and hard about it. You get used to having all that foot space to stand and move on, and then you get rid of it. If your doing a little crazy riding and lose control, the nerf bars can make it that much easier to drop a foot down. I'm not sure I'd really do it unless your seriously concerned about dropping weight off the bike.

Just my 2 cents.

How much wait would you be dropping off of it?Also would it be enough to gain some speed?

I doubt you would gain speed. Mine are aluminum and most likely only weigh in at a couple pounds... I too thought long and hard about taking them off but they are a luxury I got used to having.

Your most likely not going to gain any speed by just removing them. It's one of those things from what I've been told that is just part of a larger project if your attempting to remove weight. People do things like remove the electric start, remove the oil injection, go with aluminum wheels and handlebars. I even heard you can remove up to 8 pounds by cutting the plastic a certain way - personally I can't imagine how you'd lose that much. But I don't think most people worry about weight to that extent unless they are racing. I think alot of people do the nerfs more for looks.

That's why I want to do it, for the sportier look. It'd look even cooler if I could find some nerfs with yellow webbing to match my TBlazer. I'd like to find a way to install them, but also be able to put the lower fnders and floorboards back on if I wanted to. Oh well, thanks for all the insight.....

In fact, I just found yellow, gray, and purple ones atwww.graydonproline.com/nerf_bars.htm, so there are plenty of colors to match the polaris's

I am getting mine from my dealer he said that you have to cut your floorboards off though.

Anyone who needs the information for adding nerfs and footpegs can e-mail me for info. We started this trend back in '96.
