Default INTERESTING POLARIS NEWS

Greetings Gang. Although I have been a reader on this forum for a few months, I have finally gotten off my behind and registered, so that I can actually be a contributor instead of just a leach. My wife has finally given the green light on my Quad purchase. These green lights are rare, so I will exploit them. I plan on getting an SP800 in the next month or so.

There are two things that I want to share...both are troubling, but one in sort of a good way.

I have been doing some intensive research by reading this and other forums, talking to dealers, users, test drives, etc. Over the course of that research, I saw a rumor that a very popular dealer that was recommeded to me Southern Powersports in Tennessee, would no longer be carrying the 2007 Polaris line. My suspicions grew when I went to their website, and saw that they had no 2007 models advertised, even though all the other Polaris Delaers did. I decided to email them about a week ago to ask if they were going to carry 2007 models. The response, "We will know more in a couple of weeks. I am sorry I can not answer your question at this time." I'm not sure why the highest volume Polairs Dealership in the US would be dropping the product line, or if they are being forced to, but the response I received did not leave me with a warm and fuzzy feeling that they would be handling Polaris much longer.

The second item...the one that is troubling in a good way....only involves my time frame dilemma. I have heard from two dealers that KTM is working on a mid-year SP800 release with a 795cc engine and a 15-25% power increase. I would likely be kicking myself in the *** if this thing came out 2 weeks after I bought mine. Like I said...the green lights don't come often, so I really don't want to put myself in a position where I say, "I should have bought that instead." I would rather say, "Damn this thing is awesome, even though I spent a little too much money!"

Thanks for listening. I would be curious to hear if any others have caught wind of these rumors and could perhaps elaborate on them.

I have heard this also in regards to a 07.5 model. I expect there is some truth to it. I have heard first quarter of 07. We will see. I myself have a 06 800 and I'm happy as I could be. But it would be worth the wait IMHO. I just might have to trade in my 450 for another 800

The rumors of the Punched out 800 H.O. have been getting more and more intense as time goes on, and its all coming from people who have no contact with each other, so the rumors are starting somewere back home. I personally belive it, BRP is getting away with too much If it does infact come out, i'll be convinceing my dad he needs one, then slowly take it from him

on the other note you mentioned, i call shinnanigans. Polaris wouldent force them to close, they're the biggest dealer for polaris quads on the East Coast, none the less, why would they drop polaris? thats a huge chunk of income. it could also end up being that they will delay their release of the 07's till spring as there are no new models released yet. They could have a big inventory of 06 models, and since the "Factory Authorized Clearence" is still technicly going on, that could be the reason there.

I am confused as you spyder, but check out their website at www.southernpowersports.com

They are out of 800's, except for the Special Camo Browning Edition. All the other dealers are listing 2007's, but they are not. Could Polaris be trying to force their hand into selling Watercraft and Victory Products also? Who knows for sure, but I can tell you that when I wanted a quote on any non-camo SP800, two words came back.... NONE AVAILABLE.

As it is, they are selling 2006 SP500's at $300 less than Abernathy's....who is also known for their low "out-the-door" prices. If these guys stop selling Polaris, expect to pay at least a few hundred more, especially when the other guys don't have to compete with the low guy in the market. And there may lie the real reason why they are being pressured. Who's to say that several other big dealers haven't ganged up by telling Polaris "either he goes or we all go".

I could see that scenario if they are all sick of playing in a losing market. You can only sell product near or at cost for so long.

I know the local dealer here lost there Polaris dealership an they carried pretty much all other brands too an rumor has it Polaris had rep go there an tried to buy a ranger an the sales guy was tring to get him to buy the rhino say the ranger was not as good as the rhino. Maybe Polaris is getting on the dealer they have that carry a compaitor bike or quads looking for more Polaris only dealers.

As with Polaris and KTM on the 800, rumor has it AC is working on a V-Twin engine also. I think some companies will soon bring the power up to par with Can-Am

Before buying my Predator i checked with the dealer in Lake City, FL, they despised their prices and wouldn't come within a thousand dollars of matching them.
