Maybe. In 10 years I can only think of 2 0r 3 cdi's. (On Polaris only, I have replaced other brands.) But the stators are countless for me. I'd say 7 out of 10 times it's the pickup that ends up being bad but you have to buy the whole asm. to replace it.

 

SO are ther newer models causeing issues???? CDI's that is,

 

i would agree its a rare thing to have the cdi box go. when the pickup coil goes though, you cant even start it from lack of fire, right?
