List, items needed to carry on trail rides?
#1
Does any one have a list, or know of a web site that might have a list of must have items to take on day or over night trips.
Maybe if we all list the must have items we take on trail rides we all can create a master list.
I got the idea from the "Flat tire" thread, Slime -tire patch- air pump
What other survival items can you think of?
Matches or magnesium fire starter
Tow strap
Energy bars
Water
Extra fuel
????
What else?

This is what I carry for day rides; spare belt, socket set, wrench set, small air compressor, tire plugs, extra coolant, oil, various small parts - hose clamps/ty-raps/bolts, military shovel, extra fuel, candles, water purification drops, waterproof matches, solar blanket, extra water, pepsi, beef jerky/trail mix. Never got in a situation where I ended up staying in the bush for the night, but don't think it would be a problem.

The most important item in my survival kit is a satellite phone. I had a special shoulder holster made up with a pistol on one side and the satellite phone holster on the other. I spend as much time horseback in the backcountry as I do on my quad so if the horse runs off and I am wearing the phone things will work out. I have not experienced the quad running off yet but with all the new technology who knows.
