Spt 500HO Jetting?
Yes the main jet in the 500HO is a 155. Thats on my 2006.. I went from the 155 jet down one size to a 152.5. We ride up to elevations of 6000ft and up. I am at 2300 ft now.
My quad smelled like raw gas when it ran, and when it hit about 5800 ft in elevation it started crapping out. Too much fuel was getting into the quad and bogging it out. Had no power at all. Went to the 152.5 and it woke the quad up. No bogging problems, runs good at higher elevations and well at lower ones. And no more raw gas smell and had a power increase.
The cost of the 152.5 jet was about 7.00 from a loacl small shop.. THe local Yamaha shop also has Mikuni 40mm jets, those there are about 4 bux a pop.
I also heard you can buy a K&N and leave the 155 jet in and it will do the same as a stock filter with the 152.5.
Depending on your elevation be careful that you dont jet it too lean, you could damage your engine. Thats why i only dropped one jet size vs going to a 150 or a 147.5.
Like I said I went to a 152.5 and ride between 2300 ft and been as high as 6600 ft with the 152.5 and no problems.
