Xplor,
Bad Idea.I sold the 99 Sportsman because it was just to big for her smaller/petite frame to handle in off camber situations, hills ect.
She has a much lighter 98 Honda Recon,it fits her much better and I feel better with her riding something she can handle instead of trying to navigate a tank.
But beleive me,I KNOW EXACTLY what your up to when you say to buy it for HER.
''YOU SLY DEVIL,YOU''

Do yo think Polaris is a subsidiary of Intel???!!! LOL.... I REFUSE to buy a SP700..........(until my wife can handle my 500 and I can dump her 335)....Happy Holidays and keep the Plastic side up!

demps,
First and formore, you MUST have a dealership that stands behind its customers, and not Polaris.Your quads warrenty is ONLY as good as the mechanic wants it to be.If the mechanic is allways feeding you some BS as to the reason your problem exists, for example, your not keeping the chain oiled ect,You'll need to find another dealership and mechanic.
You should NOT have to adjust the chain that often. When I first got my Xplorer,it needed to be tightened alot, and than even more as time went on.This was very annoying to me and I let Steve [dealership mechanic] know it.He first charged me a half hr labor to clean the dirt/grit away from under the Concentric drive unit.I told him I did'nt think his cleaning would do any good,I was correct.Next,Steve contacted Polaris and they agreed to replace the concentric drive unit. That did no good.I was hauling some wood out to the polebarn one day and I heard a ''bang bang'' coming from the chain area,my front drive sprocket was worn so bad that it was skipping around my chain on acceleration.I replaced it and explained to Steve that I also felt the chain and rear sprocket should also be replaced,he agreed, contacted Polaris and they agreed to replace and install the new parts for free. They even paid me the 33$ back it cost me for my front sprocket.
I now have WELL over 100 miles on the new parts since getting the quad back,I could'nt be happier. The chain has not had to be adjusted once.
My suggetion to you is to first make sure the dealership mechanic will stand behind YOU,the customer. And than let HIM handle it.A good Polaris mechanic KNOWS how to make the customer happy. He also knows what to say to Polaris to make them stand behind his decision, best of luck,
Bill
