need help with trail boss 330 electrical problems
#1
I'm having some aggravating issues with my '05 trail boss 330.... first off the key doesn't always work to start it, but if I try pull starting it a few times or push the atv a little, sometimes the key will work. It took me awhile to get it started and when I did it would die periodically. It seems to run fine in nuetral even when I rev it, but once its in drive and start to give it gas it dies. last time I had it out it was back firing and and dieing occasionally. On one hand it seems like carb problems but that doesn't explain the starting problems, do I possibly have a stator/magneto problem and just not getting good juice? Any help would be appreciated, I'm not real great at figuring out electrical problems...thanks in advance!

i thought I should add that I've had some elec. problems building up to this, like it still running after i turn the switch to off and turn the key off, also had the tail light staying on which would draw the battery down

Really tore into the trail boss last night and I'm pretty sure I found my problem, the blue wire harness plu that connects to the control module has a hole melted in it, obviously from a short in it. I guess lots of mud riding really does screw stuff up. Luckily I found a wire harness on ebay cheap. Should I put anything on the connections to help protect them from moisture when I rewire like dielectric grease or something?
