Default 400 counter balance oil and tranny fluid

im trying to change the counter balance oil and tranny fluid. what do these use for tranny fluid. ive gathered that they hold 16 oz is that correct. Also need to know which drain plug is for the counter balance and tranny. right behind the starter i see two phillips type bolts one points straight down and the other is cocked at an angle which one is the drain. Then there are two other drains i have found which is which? any help is greatly appreciated.

i believe the gearcase holds 32 ounces and takes the polaris gearcase oil. if you go by the book. counter balance is 100 cc of 10w30. im pretty sure you get to the drain plugs through the skid plate holes . the one by the starter maybe a drain for if you get water in there. haveing a manual really helps. the tranny drain should be part of the tranny if that helps

A tip, make sure you keep an eye on any water getting in there. Oil will turn white. If that happens, change immediately & find souce of it. If ignored, this will rust the coolant shaft & cost lot's to repair.

just did the tranny fluid change on one of my 01 scramblers. Is it suppose to come out looking like chocolate milk?

Just as long as the color comes out, similar to what was put in except a little darker in color, your fine but make sure you get in a habbit of checking it. The quickest way for me to check it is the 5/8" or something around that size, bolt of the front, I slip something in the hole & pull it back out w/ fluid on it. If it's lighter in color & turing white-ish then immediately I drain all the fluid & keep an eye on it for water especially after a wet ride. It's too much work to try & access it from underneath, taking off the skid plate & finding the correct little bolt etc. If water gets in from a wet ride, then re-route your vent air line up high by the handle bar stering stem. In stock form the vent hoses end is too low & WILL suck in water. This will cause MAJOR damage eventually to the water pump shaft, over heat, takes out anti freeze seal, leaks out the weep holes on the bottom side of case etc etc. Once you route the vent up high, your good to go through anything.
