x_scrambler3,
that was a dumb comment. THe ds is bad on the track? Well we live relativly close togeather. How about a shootout. I'll race you and anyone that thinks the ds is a pile' or to wide or big. Somone needs to stand up for the ds...and i'm going to start doing the standing.

the polaris AUTO's are great. they aren't like a car, they acclerate even harder then an auto cluth 5-speed, sice there are no actual gears and there is never any pause in throttle. the way it works is this:

say a manual tranny has a 1st gear at 5:1 ratio. 2nd at 4:1. 3rd at 3:1. 4th at 2:1. and 5th at 1:1. now in that tranny, you have to wind the whole way in 1st until ther 5:1 is as fast as it can be. at that point. you have to let off the gas and shift to the 4:1 gear (2nd) then you have to build revs back up till you got enough to hit 3rd.

Now on a polaris auto, there are no gears, there is instead an infinately variable clutch and belt system that performs as follows.
it starts at a low ratio just like the manual. it revs high just like the manual. then while the manual is going for 2nd, the polaris tranny simply adjusts its cluth ratios. The adjustment is so precise, and it opperates to keep the powerband at its peak, that you never loose momentum and are able to hit a top end higher then the 400EX and accelerate faster too.

also. it may feel weird for the first 5-10 mins. but after that, its cool. you come off the big jumps and just hit the gass. hold the throttle maxed until the next corner. wheelys are real easy too, but we'll talk about that after you get the scram ride on.
