'06 SP500HO EPI Heavy Duty Springs Installed
#1
I've had these springs for 5 weeks now and have been trying to get a hold of some spring compressors so I could do the install. Thanks to some other members and information from other ATV forums, I came upon instructions to do this job without compressors. I removed my stock springs today and installed the EPI springs.
With the stock springs, the ATV had 3 inches of sag easily, and that was without any weight at all on the front. Add to that the weight of my Moose plow and the front end dive was a sad sight. With the EPI springs, front end sag is 1 inch if that. I didn't get a chance to put the plow on, but just pushing down on the front end with my own weight was enough to feel how much stiffer these springs are.
Now all I need is some snow to push around! I'm sure these springs will work great for plowing, but I haven't been on the trail with them, where I have a feeling they might be a little harsh. If I get a chance, I'll take it out for a ride in the coming days to get a feel for them. If they turn out to be too stiff for normal riding, I'll probably order a set of the preload adjusters and install them next Spring/Summer.
Thanks to everyone for their daily input in these various threads. As much as I hate to waste money and go to the dealer, I'm glad I could do this job myself and without the added expense of specialty tools. CLICK HERE for a few pics of the install.

I have no sag on front or rear. It is still a little too cushy for me on the rear. I have the adjusters all the way up in the rear and I have 800 rear springs on the front of mine! The only sag I have is from tire sidewall flexxing, and I love it!

if you look at the back springs you will see that it has notches on the bottom that you can use a spanner wrench to adjust them for stiffer or softer adjustments.

You didn't need to use a spring compressor to remove the front springs. Once the weight of the machine is off the suspension there's almost no tension on the springs.
I swapped out the stock front springs on my X2 and gained 2". The ride is a little harsher but it's no big deal.
