Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in the oil drain plug from a 03 sportsman 500 and and newer 500.

The problem I have is that my oil tank leaked on my sportsman since the first time I changed the oil. I came out
pretty hard from the factory. I torqued it to the factory spec. because of my fear of the plastic tank. It leaked a little so I held off on taking it to the dealer thinking maybe it was a bad gasket since I did not replace it. After leaving a pan under it for the last few years and adding oil when needed, I finally replaced the tank with a new one. But the new tank has a little plastic v coming down to the drain plug and my drain plug is to big around to fit. And yes I did replace the gasket with all the other oil changes, It is not the first oil change still. Thought someone could tell me if the drain plugs were now different.
