How do you install handguards???
#1
Just bought the Polaris handguards for my 2000 Sportsman, and boy are these instructions helpful! How in the %#$@! do you put these *&#^ things on? I should have had one of the service guys explain to me in a language I understand how to install these guards, especially the left side. Any help guys/gals?

88 cents is a good deal for thingies, but whats the part number for thingies? Sure could have used them guards today in the 0 to -10 fahrenheit weather. Can't believe I had my overheat light come on again, I thought I had it all fixed and done for another winter. I guess after I had it parked outside for a while, what ever froze, froze, and I can't believe I am overheating once again, I hope its not another frozen-burnt cooling fan, only been through 2 of them in 11 months!

It shouldn’t take you more than 10 minutes to install the hand guards, if you have the right ones. Make sure the left one is formed to fit your “square” master cylinder reservoir. If it’s not shaped right you may have a hand guard kit for an HO, which has a rounded reservoir. Just start playing with the parts, it should be easy and obvious.

My mistake, after trying desperately to put these dudes on, I realized that the dealer sold me guards for a 2001, and not the 2000. For those wishing to put them on, 2001 is #2873524, and for my 2000 is #2872329. There are 3 following numbers indicating the colour Black -070
Olive -191, Yellow -053. Red has 2 differing codes between 2000 -288, and 2001 -136. So now its back to the dealer for the proper fitting handguards.
