Rich,

It already has a full skid plate!

Why do you need double protection?

Dittos, I thought the Sportsman comes with a full metal skidplate. The plates I have on my Sportsman X2 stand up to quite a beating. Being a longer wheelbase than the regular sportsman the X2 scrapes more often on the rocks we regularly crawl over. It hasn't budged yet. Note: I don't jump the machine unless I know there is soft landing on the other side. My other quad, the ATP, that my son rides, has the polyethylene skids that also seem to hold up well. Probably lighter but not quite as durable. Each time you scrape a chunk of granite it will leave a little more skid plate behind. I recommend keeping the stock metal skid plate.

Does my 04.5 Sp have a stock skidplate installed? I don't have it here and can't look at it.
