Tie down ?

After reading how many people disliked hooking to the winch, I ended up replacing one of the roller fairlead bolts with a large stainless steel eye-bolt. Now, it is about as secure as running the hooks to part of the quad's frame.

my wheelers sit crossways on my trailer and are each secured in front with one 2000# strap from the front frame bracket to the trailer frame and one 2000# strap from the hitch to the trailer frame in the rear...this works great and I know I don't have to worry about it!

To those who don't think strapping their quads in is necessary keep in mind that you should tie it down for more reasons than it bouncing around. Ever think what would happen if you were to wreck and roll your pickup now you have another object out of control and flying down the road. Last year a worker in Pittsburgh didnt bother hooking chains up on his woodchipper and it broke loose killing a little kid. So maybe think twice before rushing off without properly tying down your loads!!

Is it ok to use the front winch to secure my X2 to the trailor? Any advice?
Thanks in advance.</end quote></div>
No, do not use the winch to tie down, get 4 atv ratchets straps and do it right! Don't listen to the winch only or just latch the tailgate idioits! You are required to secure you load properly. If for some reason your atv falls off you could be in big trouble.

It says right in the instruction manual for my winch NOT to use it as a tie down. I use 4 ratchet tie downs attached to U-bolts welded onto the corners of my trailer. When someone needed to borrow one I took it off the back and used three.

4 Ratchet straps. One each corner. End of story. Best and safest way to go and the straps are CHEAP!!!. Definitely the cheapest thing I have had to buy out of all the products for my quad. They are great and I also use two of them to tie down my loading ramps so it works out well. Definitely a good and cheap investment.

When I had the non-ratchet straps they came loose and one fell off on the highway. The ratchet-type are also good for tying down a cooler or other load on the rack. I've lost my cooler before when I hit the whoops and the hooks on my cheap bungees straightened out and flew off. My pop bottles were all over the trail, and most of them stuck in the sand like lawn darts. And I had ice in my rear cleavage, too. When you load up the quad, take the the straps off the cooler and tie down.
Vernors. Shaken, no sand.
