Tie down ?
#2
I've used it since I got my X2 and haven't seen anything like kinks develop in the line. I usually spool it in to the point the hook is pivoting off the rollers on the fairlead and pull the hook straight down. It is a better anchor point than the metal bar in the center under the radiator. I don't think it harms the winch at all.

ive use my winch as the only tie down for the front for yrs w/ no problems but i always put 1 or 2 strapps on back depending in where i go.

The winch is a bad idea ... unless it has a manual brake, they can and will loosen up over time and not hold tight during towing.
One strap in the front and two of the rear, should be the minumin ... I use two front and two rear, don't want to lose and $8000.00 machine over $50.00 is straps.

Why risk the cost of a winch in using it for a purpose it clearly wasn't intended for? I use ratcheting tie-downs front and rear. At $15 new, I'd rather buy a new set each year than risk breaking my $500 winch. Or like someone else said, lose the ATV.
