rough idling in the cold
#1
I tried to run my TrailBoss today, it was about 10 degrees.. -20 windchill. It just wouldn't idle, even if I hit the gas it would bog even after it idled for 5 minutes. I'm sure I ran it last year in colder weather and it ran fine... any ideas why??

You'll probably hafta play with the carb a little, but I used to ride my cousins 00 TBoss last winter in 20 degree weather or colder, and had to leave the choke half shut for about the first 15min of riding after letting it warm a a few minutes, then it would run perfect.

On my trail boss, I have to run it at about 1/2 choke also for about the first 15 minutes. As for playing with the carb, you could try adjusting the idle up just little and see if this helps it stay running. Don't go very far or it will be idling too high when it warms up. You can adjust the idle by turning the little thumb scew on the left side of the carb. Hope this helps.
