Rubicon beats SP500HO in Drag Race... not once but twice???
#1
Three of us lined up at the drag strip at FWP. Texmudder on his Rubicon. Me on my 2000SP500. And another guy on his Silver SP500HO. These were the results.
Race 1
1 Me
2 Texmudder
3 SP500HO
Race 2
1 Texmudder
2 Me
3 SP500 HO
Texmudder and I were with 2 feet of each other both times. The HO was about a length or more behind us. I have been considering the upgrade. I think I will just stick with what I have.

Greg,
Why is this race significant? To my knowledge none of machines were built for speed. If this race had been conducted in 3' of mud, climbing steep hills or on technical trails I could understand it. To my way of thinking what good is speed if your stuck? It's kind of like looking at a Corvette when you need a truck. I'm not critizing (Because you have been a great help to me with my machine) I just fail to see the importance of the race.

mud4me,
I thought this was significant because it has been widely reported that the HO was much faster than the Rubicon or SP500s. I did buy my SP500 at least in part for the acceleration, and I believe most others did also. I know it is a great mudder, but it is also a great trail bike. Tex and I were both surprised that we beat the HO.

Even though in my opinion the results mean very little. They are easily understandable.
Greg's SP500 beating the SP500HO.
First, and foremost after the short time I have been reading these message boards it is quite obvious that Greg has an above average knowledge of the Polaris product and I have no doubt in my mind that his is running at it's peak level. I just wish I lived closer to Greg, I'd have him work on mine.
Second, from experience, other than racing, my buddy and I each have a 2001 SP500HO and they run different and sound different. Maybe it has to do with break-in proceedures. One thing that does not differ on our bikes is the ride and mudding ability, they are both very compitent machines.
I can't speak for the Ruby winning though I have no experience for this machine.
Just my thoughts
