Ok folks.. this dog has been beat many times over and so I need some answers one final time.. Yesterday I was riding and rode through some water at a moderate speed... You guessed it.. The cheap so called "CV guards " bent back and tore the upper front boot.. This is the second one thats tore and I just havent had the chance to get "Stick Stoppers".. My questions are as followed:

1. Im certain some water got into the boot.. If so and Im completely Screwed and does the whole axle have to be replaced or can i just replace the boot?

2.Does anyone know a dealership in Virginia with some ***** that will stand up to polaris and fight for the fact that this is a FACTORY DEFAULT!!? I need this covered under warranty and my dealership is offering me no help.

Any help with this would be very much helpfull... I know if anyone can answer these questions..you guys can.

Hey, man. I feel your pain and worse. I noticed my drivetrain making noises in the rear about 6 months after I bought it. I didn't think much of it because it hadn't been a destraction. I've had the bike for about a year and a half now and the noise has never gotten louder. About a month ago I went to some local trails with alot of clay holes and sand. Well after a few days of riding after going threw the trails the noise has gotten much worse, I still didn't think much of it. After a quick visual inspection I found a small gash in the rear right outer cv boot. I know now exactly where the noise was comming from. Instead of having the joint rebuilt I am just going to dish out the $750 to purchase some Gorilla axle's.

What are these stick-stopers!!!...Do you mean the plastic Polaris guards in frount of the boots...or something after-market???.............If they are not factory...can someone post some pics.......Thanks...........caper...........

Thanks..........I did know about these..........You mean to tell me that the stock plastic ones can bend or flex and still damage the boot!!!!!!!!I did not know they could still let me down that easy!!!!!!!!!!!.............caper............

I have the same bike as you. I ripped both front upper cv boots at the same time riding through water. My dealership got polaris to cover it. I go to JanCen motorsports near Buffalo, NY. They are aware and have covered this on other quads. Sounds like your dealer is lazy or trying to get your money. I bouth the stick stoppers right after I got it fixed and have had no problems since. Someone said to bend the taps the plastic gaurds are bolted too to move it farther away from the boot. I belive there are automotive boots that are the same but cheaper. Stock CV boot for 02 700: Discount Auto Parts P/N 6-1052 Fits Dodge Neon not sure if this will fit the newer ones

 

I looked at doing that. I didn't feel it was good enough. I weighed the options and taking the chance on bending those tabs that could still bend back and rip the boot or just pay 55 dollars and get front and back stick stoppers was well worth it.

 

i put the stick stoppers on both of my bikes and there worth every penny. i even hit a stump hard enough to bend the front one back into the boot a little, but no damage to the boots and good protection.
