Polaris AWD Lock-Up Accident Info NEEDED!

It's true. But as far as it being a design flaw, I would not go that far. The shafts can take so much and it isn't a small shaft. That would be kinda like towing some vehicles behind an RV and calling the tranny or transfer case burning up a flaw. They are just not made for that purpose. Keep in 2wd and the hubs won't engage and the shaft will not twist out of index. If you have a bent axle, replace it and you won't have that problem

I heard the older system had a possible habit of locking one hub in at high speeds this ,this happened to several people I know one guy was air lifted to the hospital almost died,
When this would happen It generally will take the handle bars and jam one side back which usually will break some Ribs and if you manage to hold on you also receive a nice broken collar bone ,
polaris was fixing this under the table so they wouldn't get a bad rep

This is not correct. One front wheel can be engaged while the other is not.

you shouldent have to worry about any dangers, a few years ago the hubs were removed in favor of a central differential. if your AWD kicks in, both fronts will be turning no matter what.

I have experienced pulling like this........it was due to low tire pressure in one tire.
Anyone riding on a paved road is nuts. And you are helping ruin a good sport for everyone. To be riding at 60MPH on a paved road, well, I think your just a %$#@!%* damn idiot!
Go sue yourself!

Only time I have seen this is when someone was doing donuts and the spinning rear wheels caused the front to engage like they are supposed to. SURPRISE!!!!. Anyway he rolled it busted pod & scraped it up pretty good.

when the accident happened the four-wheel drive was unhooked completely, with no current going to the front wheels there should be no possibility of the front wheels locking up unless there is a flaw in the design somewhere. i didn't come here to argue about how it happened. i just want to know if someone else has had this happen. thats all.

yeppers! exact same thing on my 05 700 EFI Sportsman would happen (minus the accident part).
I was told the problem was due to the front Hilyard becoming magnetized (for whatever reason).
TAKE THE BIKE BACK TO THE DEALER AND MAKE THEM FIX IT.
It is about 6 hours work. My dealer wouldn't say if they replaced parts or ???? but it hasn't done it since, and Polaris should cover it because it is definately and EXTREME hazzard.....
