Default Sportsman 800 -06, hard to change gear..

My new Sportsman 800 need some adjustment i think. But how and what do i do?

Its hard to change gear (not allways), when i have it in L i need to hold the brake, otherwise it start to move... I think maybe its the idle speed (1150 rpm) that is to high or the clutch/variator that nee some adjustment???

Please help me, i want to ride!

1150 is not to high but try lowering it if u can on efi to 1050-1080. If that doesn't work then your clutch is engaging to early.

I lowered it to 95o rpm. Iwe cecked the clutch and variator but didnt see anything strange. Talked to my dealer and he sait that it was a comon problem, becauce of dust in the EBS... Thats because of low toleranse in the variator...

So im still not happy with gearchange, i have to pull pretty hard in the stick ta change gear? That cant be normal?

The clutch alignment is off most likely, have the alignment corrected so the belt rides in the center of the primary and doesn't contact the inner or outter shieve at idle. Changing the idle speed won't help this, put it back to 1150 with the engine warmed up....

Haveing to hold the brake when it is in LOW, i.e. creeping, most likly means your clutches are out of alignment. It should be an easy fix for your dealer.

Mine is also very hard to shift. Dealer put a shim in and I couldn't tell any difference. Compared to my 2 previous sprtsmns, this is twice as hard to shift, especially out of low. Dealer said it is fine. Mine does not creep though (did a little when brand new). Let us know if you get a fix.

Ok, thanks.

What You all mean is that the belt is not running parralel between the "beltwheels ( pri/sec variator)"... (Exuse my english...)
Mine only has 300 km on it. Maybe a few more kms will fix it? I have a long way to my dealer.... 900 km, one way.

I also notised that the belt vas a bit outside on the rear variator approax 2-3mm, i mean like its going to "climb over" the shieve. Is that normal?

Thanks again for tips!

Yes the belt will be a bit out of the driven clutch, that is normal.... Does it shift easy without the engine running?
