New to ATV's: problem with starting Engine
#12
Before taking anything apart, pull out the spark plug, squirt a SMALL AMOUNT of carb cleaner, gas, or starting fluid into the hole, reinstall the plug and see if it'll fire up for a second or two. If it doesn't fire up, then it's probably spark or engine compression related. If it does fire up, then next be sure gas is actually getting to the carb from the gas tank BEFORE tearing apart the carb! If there is no spark, then you'll need a service manual that covers your atv's model to diagnose the ignition system properly. If there is spark & gas, then it's probably engine comression related (too low), again you'll need a service manual to diagnose it further.

we got the machine to run, my dad was tweaking with it and it started running. I got some gumout stuff made to clean out fuel injectors and carberators. Should i use it? its been sittin around for bout 10 minutes, should i just leave it running for a while? cause when we touch the accelerator, it doesnt reev, it just dies.
And i do have a Manual coming in of the same atv.
Thanks again

Pull your card and slowly/gently dissassemble it. in the bowl there is a jet pull it. Spray the carb cleaner in everything. put it back together the way you took it apart, and see where you are at.
First i'd pull the fuel filter and run it without one.

Aye, its me again. Ive gotten the machine running, but it seems like it has low power, or that fuel isnt getting to it. weve put some carb cleaner in it and stuff. Ive also pulled the fuel filter...but how can you run it without one.....?

dude save yourself more headaches, pull the carb and clean it with gumout spray carb cleaner that stuff you put in there wont disolve a big piece crap that is probably plugging the main jet its the only way to do it,pull it clean it right.
just start with this, you stated it has been running so it has spark, clean the carb, if that doesnt work then probably have to do a compression test on it.b
