Iam not saying that I dont like it, it locks in quick and stays locked in till its turned off, I went on a trip to Canada and through alot of nasty stuff, rocks ,mud and over downed trees with no problem, but the AWD should not be kicking in when in 2- wheel mod when the rear wheels are moving and the fronts are not!!

I would agree that they should not lock in 2wd. I know someone that was doing doughnuts on the ice in 2wd, locked in, next thing he knows, he was looking to for a used a transmission! I will check mine out later today!

They are not spinning from the friction, they dont move till about 15 to 20 mph, you can tell its locking into AWD because it kicks in hard, the speedo does not work until the front tires move, and when I stop it and give it gas again its still locked in.

Try it and see what yours does, this has to be done with 04s and newer with the Hillard system

Toy Crazy,
I've done a lot of this same testing on my 04 700. Late lthis summer I trashed my front diff and had to rebuild it. Prior to rebuilding it would lock up in 2wd at any given moment. I could place all four wheels in the air and it would lock the front on 2wd as I gave it the gas. Sometimes I could get it out by placing it in reverse sometimes not. Removed the front diff and pulled it apart. The basket in the hillard clutch was toast and about 3 rolers were running free. I replaced the hillard basket and put the diff back in. I placed it in the air again and everything worked as expected. 2wd forward accelerate and only the backs spin no matter how fast I go. FWD fronts kick in as expected. back to two no front spin. Did this repair about 300 miles ago. Had it in the air about a week ago for another repair and gave it the old 2WD/FWD test and all is still fine. Hope this helps.

Trooper
