Please correct me if I am wrong but when you 'lock' yours in isn't there a rev limiter that prevents you from spinning the tires too fast? Sometimes when you are stuck or almost stuck it requires WOT to get out.......and you guys with the manual lockers (finger pulls or switch) you guys can't spin at WOT.....and that is a real disadvantage IMO.

And that is where the Polaris shines bright with it's 4X4. You can hold it WOT and fling mud 10' straight up in the air and get out of a tight spot w/o needing a tow!

and their new ones dont have a rev limiter over ride so you have wire it differnt to do away w/ the limiter to get out while trying to back up.

That is just what its doing, but have'nt noticed it running with all wheels on the ground, but I will run it down the road and check it out, thax that helps. If this thing it broke already w/ under 500mi. its not a very tough system, like I said before this thing is not abused or beat on.

I still would like someone else to try this and report back on the out come, has to be done w/04 and newer.

Some where I read a post that the cage is made with white plastic, and to replace it with one made with black plastic, where do I get one made with black.

Toy,
You are correct the original was white plastic/nylon and the replacement is black and much beefier. It is also about 1/8" longer which takes up some slack in the clutch that the white one allowed. When you order the replacement part from Polaris, you will get the black one it has replaced the white one. They obviously knew it was a flaw and replaced it with a better part.

The best price I found was www.discounthondaparts.com they sell Polaris and Honda parts.

I loaded some pics of the old basket I took out. Hopefully you can see them. Click the camera below my name on left. Sorry I didn't take a pic of the new one before I installed it.

My dealer when I bought my 05 warned me about it that it is not good to over run the front at 20 to 30mph faster then the front that it could engage it is funny how many dealer do not tell the buy of this.
