I found this in the Jiffy Ice Auger FAQ. I wonder why you can't use a synthetic oil in their augers. Does it actually provide less lubrication?

"What kind of oil should be used to make a Jiffy fuel mixture? Use only quality two-cycle oil to mix with clean fresh gasoline for fuel. A quality two-cycle snowmobile oil works well.

Do NOT use synthetic oils of any kind, they will void the warranty."

The reason is becase some synthetics are not to be mixed with fuels,They are ok for injected sytems ,All reguler 2 stroke oils can be mixed with fuels with no problem,so other than listing the types of oil you can /cant use they just tell you to run regular 2 stroke oil.
Yes synthetics are a far better oil,
