Default Question on a strange black fliud???

Just put a new top end, pipe, air filter, clutch kit and jets on a 97 trailblazer 250. During the break in I noticed a thick black molasses type fluid coming out of the exhuast pipe fittings. The quad still runs like champ. just curious if this might be the paint on the new pipe melting/burning in. Or could it be something more significant?
Any help would be great!!!
