Default 1999 sportsman wiil not engage AWD in reverse

Can anyone give me some ideas please. I am unable to get into 4 wheel drive when backing. I have bypassed the override switch but to call me a rookie at this would be polite. The AWD is working fine in forward gears.
Thanks for thinking
jay

You can't just bi-pass the over-ride switch.....This is NEEDED for AWD in reverse...........There are kits that you can get to STILL have AWD in reverse but the engine is not limited.........do a search here to find more info..I don't have this done....Lots others do....Mostly for plowing..........Thanks...Caper.......
That over-ride buttom needs to be pushed for AWD in Rev. Normaly....Factory get my drift!!!!

Sorry what I meant is that I put a kit on to not have to use the button in reverse for plowing purposes

Did you do the Mod yourself............If so.......Put it back just to see if your AWD will work in REV. then go from there...........Did it just stop doing this now ...or never did work after trying to hook up the bi-pass....Caper.......

Was it one from quatovator.com? I am looking at hooking one up to mine. I did some looking back on people talking about them in these forums and have heard nothing but good things about them.

Yes I did the mod myself and it was not working prior. I thought perhaps the switch was bad and by putting on the mod it would bypass the switch. yes it was from quadavotor
