Bone Head Move

If you wanted more horsepower, get an aftermarket, piston, rings, and camshaft. If you really want more power put a big bore kit in it and a stroker crank if one is available yet.
If you were happy with stock, go back stock.
I would use oem stuff the rest of the way.

Lot's to consider and take in.
I did change the plug and tried to crank, wouldn't fire.
I'm sure I can do the job myself, I worked on airplanes in the Air Force for 23 years.
Just waiting on the manual before I pull anything off her, no reason to do it twice or perform work I don't need to.
I will get a tester and check the compression, Polaris sure didn't give you much room over the plug! Any other special tools I may need before I get to deep. I have most every hand tool I would need.
You guys are great, keep the info flowing, I am will to learn anything.

i only thing i might add to this discussion is they run w/ synthic for a reason very tight toralances. if you run this out of oil i'm betting that the crank bearing are going to be junk as well. even if when you get this apart and not see something damaged at the moment, after you put it back together you could have a short life spam if a part badly worn from lack of oil lets ago and then you have to do it all over again. what im saying (long winded i know) is that if your going to "rebuild"it, then competely from top to bottom do it for a peace of mind. then check all part prices then comapre your trade idears.

there is no way i would be spending my weekends in a cold garage trying to rebuild my quard that my son broke because he did not have the nerve to tell me. i would find out what the dealer would charge to rebuild it completly with new parts and take that money from him and then trade in my quad for the new one. with his money to make up some of the difference. then there would be one key to it just for me.

Trade it, Take your son to the nearest McDonalds, Culvers, Home Depot, wherever! Make him get a job and work 4 or 5 nights a week until he pays for it. Man we are a bunch of Dr. Phil's you ask for motor advice and we give advice on parenting!
