No Lights On Trail Blazer. AHHHH!!!
#1
So the lights on my '96 Trail Blazer went out the night I bought it. Both front and rear went out at the sametime, so I doubt that they are bulbs. The dash lights still work. In another thread someone had mentioned a voltage regulator or something like that. Anyone have any ideas? Also, I was checking the brake fluid today and notcied that in the front of the box on the handle bar measured full, but from the seat it measures minimum. Which one should I go with? The brakes seem fine. I jacked it up and tried to get the ATV level to check, but could not get it exactly level.

i would check the bulbs first and if they both are blown then i would put a voltage tester on to see how much it reads. the regulator does just that and stopps it from over charging the system. if its not the bulbs being burnt then check the light switch for power and to see if its getting good connection. as far as the brake res. i just turn the handle bar to angle as close to leveling the res. to fill to the max.

stendori is right but also check your battery voltage, if you have a low battery it could blow the light bulbs out also. the battery needs to be fully charged for the voltage regulator to work or else it would send all that wattage from the stator right to the least path of resistance which is the lights.

I think you may be on to something jta4455. It now has a new battery, but whn I got it the battery was fried. All of a sudden the lights just went out when putting it in the garage. I bet the bulbs did go.

I checked the lights today and they were both blown out. This was probably the best thing I could of hoped for. I had some new 1157s (which is what it had) laying around, so I put one in the rear light and it works perfectly. I went to Wally world tonight to get the H3 55 Watt front the front and I'll put that in tomorrow.

i wouls still check the voltage. something made the battery fried as you say. it shouldnt be putting out more 13.5 to 14 volts when idled up. if its more then that somethings wrong.

The voltage checked out fine. The other battery was just junk. It was 5 years old, leaked acid, and needed to go. I'll run it for a while and make sure that the voltage stays good.
