Default sportsmen 400?

Hi all got a ? for anyone who can give me some advice. I have heard that you can put a 500ho camshaft in a 400 and that the jugs or cylinders from a 500 sportsmen will fit on a 400sp what I was wanting to know if this was true or not. Thanks for everyones time.

The cam will fit but the 500 ho has A bigger carb, the jug will not work because the 500 has a longer stroke, different bottom end. I looked at doing this to my 425 and this is what I found , I'm still thinking about the ho camshaft I think you could re- jet it and make it run really well.

What I was wanting was to get a little more horse out of my 400sp I knew that the carbs were bigger abit on the 400 to the 500 thought maybe I might find a used carb somewhere or maybe like you were thinking maybe if a guy could rejet the 400 carb not sure on that. maybe someone eles could give advice on that part of rejeting to make it work.
