front end shakes going uphill in snow
Is it normal? 2006 450 sportsman. Front end shakes back and forth pretty bad when going up a very steep hill in the snow when in 4 wheel drive. Feels like right tire grabs then left tire grabs - back and forth. Handlebars shake left to right. I was hammerin pretty hard - doesnt do it on inclines just big hills when you know all four are are loosing traction.
Guy I was with said it was the slip dif working back and forth - I thought these didnt have slip dif's

Totally normal. No, the Polaris 4x4s don't have limited slip, they are a true 1-way locker. What you're feeling is the front wheels spinning,grabbing,spinning,grabbing,etc.etc. As each front tire finds a little more traction over the other one you feel it through the bars. No worries, to be had.

dont worry brutus they all do it its the true awd that is catching traction and releasing. if it was a limited slip you wouldnt get that feeling. when one wheel gets traction and the other is still spinning trying to get traction then it tends to pull that way for a split second.

Thanks everyone! - I thought it was ok just wanted to make sure. Yeh Caper I love my 450 - it's awesome. I did make a few fatal mistakes the other day - newbie not knowin how to get through some SERIOUS mud holes covered by snow - BURIED it 2 times - had to get winched out! cooool. Good thing someone and a winch I tried to tell my wife I needed one. I learned quick though and started goin right through with out a prob - it's amazing what a little more on the throttle will do! LOL
