I have been poking around the tire sites and have noticed that ITP makes a much better tire in weight savings. The Teracross looks to be the best tire considering weight and ridial applications. Have been reading the reviews for the tire and most of them compare it to the Bighorn and say the terracross dose much better in al conditions.

http://www.gnccracing.com/ That is the GNCC i am talking about. The terracross seems to have stiff sidewalls and hard lugs. The tire seems to be the better tire overal. Here is a online review of the tire http://www.nyrocatv.com/forum.cgi?vi...viewtopic=8093. Hope this helps.

I will check out the link you provided. I like what I've read about the TerraCross, but it's mostly been promotional literature - not real-world comments from riders.
Thanks!

OK, I read the thread on the TerraCross tires. Very convincing, though it's just one guy's opinion. He said the tire compound felt "soft" and openly wondered about wear on rocky trails. I ride some rocks but probably not enough to sway the decision.
This guy's A:B comparison of the TC's and the Bighorns (BH's) was really informative. I sure didn't like his description of the BH's being squirrelly, but really liked that the TC's seemed to have resolved that.
So, after starting this thread on 589's vs. ACT's, and toying with the Bighorn along the way, I'm now starting to think the TerraCross is the way to go.
Is it an accident that the more tires I consider, the more expensive they get? [grin]
Thanks!

Found this on a thread discussing the TerraCross tire. Apparently "DirtWheels" is a magazine.
"dirtwheels had some that they tested and they said that they put a few sticks through them and they wear down fast...they said that the rubber was real soft which is why they are so light. they also said that they wouldnt reccommend them for anything othr than groomed trails"
So we have opinions all over the spectrum! Who do we trust on this stuff?!?

Sorry to get back to you so late on the PXT story, but here goes. The terrain I ride mostly is jagged, basketball size and larger rock trails. If it isn't rocky, then it's soup, nothing in between. It was my first ride on the quad. We were riding a very technical section of rocks and low and behold, the PXT left front tire gets a flat. Here's where it goes from bad to worse. There was no way I could turn around to go back without finishing the steep climb, AND when it was all done I had no choice but to go back down it with the flat. After that, those flimsy things were retired permanently. Thankfully, I had a birthday coming up soon thereafter, so it was tires and wheels I asked for, and my wife happily complied (rolling eyes, of course).
