Okay all -

So you click on these cool quad links and run these
videos like on Youtube.com - Somewhere from this site!
(http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=alanselmo)

And these things are monsters. I notice some are snorkeled
and others not? Big wheel kits, Lift kits, suspensions. These
things like float in the water, submersed in water and mud
and pull out.

Golden question: What does it take to mod our Quads to
run like these on that site? Are those who don't have obvious
snorkels coming up thru the top, have it snorkeled throughout
with some other configuration? What size tires, what type?

Most guys that ride that deep have them snorkeled with stacks like mine or snorkeled to the headlight pod with spa hose. Most run big tires like Zillas or Laws. I run the 28" Zillas and the do great.

have their Rad's raised on their fronts,

Any white papers out there on snorkeling
these Sportsmans, I like the spa hose idea
to keep stock look. But I also want to know
can the mid class 450/500 do the what you
see in the video with lift kits, wheel spacers,
Bigger wheel kits, snorkeled (mod'd) etc.?

Or all of these 700 and 800 class? I remember
from some other posts people told me not to
run 27/28" on my 450 for lost of power/engine
strain, but I really want like to do some of these
deeper mud challenges. I am want to move out
of more mod'in of my 450 clutch kits etc, but
I couldn't really identify from the YOUTUBE pics
and videos if all the Quads were of above 500
class, please advise!

And again what are making them Buoyant
in deep water?

I don't think there are any directions out there for snorkeling a sportsman but you can get lots of ideals over at Highlifter.com. A 450/500 sportsman can do what they are doing in the videos. I would not go any bigger than a 27" tire on a 450 and you would need a clutch kit to turn them. If you get in deep enough water with the bigger tires your 450 will float just like the ones in the video. If you ride deep water all you have to do is give it throttle and your front will come right up. Its called a water wheelie.

Youtube.com too. Where would I get my
spacers for the 27" tires, what size rims
would I need and about the clutch kit, I
don't know anything, do you recommend
a brand and company to buy from? I appreciate
all your insights!

If you run aftermarket wheels like ITP's they have an offset and you really don't need spacers unless you want to be wider. I got my spacers from a guy on ebay and you can also get them from Highlifter.com. As far as the clutch kit I recommend the Heelclicker. You can get a discount on one if you join the Atvquadsquad.com and ask for Cob.

 

All good info. Now I need
to know dims of tires in
front vs back and what
about the rims, overwhelming
when I scan thru the mags and
on-line not sure which rim sets
would be better for mud'in does
it even matter? I would prefer to
keep my stock rims on my stock
tires and remove/change out when
planning different ATV trails.
