I just wanted to come back and say a little more. Unfortunantly this was a small town dealer. We don't have any big towns or huge dealers around here. There are 5 dealers in all the nearby towns put together.

Supply and demand is probably the biggest problem here. They don't really have to "sell" their products, make great deals, nor do they feel the need to compete. I got the old brush off because I had been in once before and talked to the one guy. I didn't back out on any deal or anything. I just stopped by, talked to the guy and got a few prices.

Now at my return, they weren't really busy or anything. This guy just overlooked me because I didn't buy the very 1st time through the doors. They just get enough business that they expect a buyer to chase them around the sales floor begging to buy. I guess since I had been there before, he pre-judged me like someone else said. I assume he wanted to keep everyone free in case a "live one" walked in. You know, the type that just walks in, sees something they like and pays the inflated sticker price without asking too many questions or leaving to go shop around elsewhere.

Oh, and there is another gripe of mine. The cheapest prices I have been able to find are as follows; The Trailblazer starts out the priceline at $3,499 + tax (MSRP for the Trail Boss) and so on down the line. Each quad being priced up to the next model. That's robbery! Just last year a Trailblazer could be had for $2,900 out the door at the same dealer. This of course is a diferent dealer than the one I walked out of. There prices are worse than that!

What's worse is that they aren't the worst! Honda is a huge seller around here. It will cost you a whopping $6,299 + tax for a 400EX absolute best price! Oh, and you will have to wait till one comes in that isn't already spoken for. They can't get them in fast enough. That about how it is with most makes and models here..........

Baaaah..........Hummmmmmmmmmmmbuggg...........LOL!

I have to work too hard, doing a job that most people wouldn't want, to give money away foolishly. I shop around for the best prices on about everything that's a $ 200.00 or larger purchase. Heck, I admit it, I'M A CHEAPSKATE !!!! LOL Money is too hard to come by to flush down the commode. I'll order items from out of state to get a better price and save on sales tax (if the shipping isn't too expensive). I'll even say it again: I'M A CHEAPSKATE !!!! It's all about getting more for your money !

Just remember that there is another dealer who has what you want within an hours drive away. I have no patience for jerks who take me for granted. That's why I drove 4 hours to buy my latest bike, and saved $600 in the process. I have an easy answer to dealers who are rude to me, I turn around and walk out. If they don't have time to take my money, then that's okay, I don't have time to give it to them. Don't be afraid to drive a few miles to find a dealer who isn't a jerk. I viewed it as a good time, a great way to spent a weekend. If you're married then get the wife involved, all women like to get a good deal, it's embedded in their genetics.

well just to let you'll know i run a auto store ford lincoln mercury and toyota, and i love salesmen real one's, when i went shopping i actually got my best price 80 miles from here, but i also found that just cause they were cheaper doesnot mean it was a better buy, i chose the more expensive place to spend my money because of the salesman who spent one hour selling me on a polaris over anything else i was considering! then demo the sp to me then introduced me to the shop parts owners and everthing, they explained the maintence sch and just made me feel great and i liked it and i bought it they sold me on being in business for years and years one of the oldest polaris dealers in louisiana. and yes i paid more but service after the sale and a knowledgeable staff were worth the extra so i will drive to sulphur louisiana for more sales and service, no all salespeople are egg heads just a few bad seeds in the pot.
p.s. wear the helmet and you can live to buy another 4 wheeler

I think all of us could comment on dealerships/salespeople we have dealt with. One of my greatest (I think) assets was doing a little door to door sales several years back. And if any of you guys/gals own a vaccum peddled door to door, you know the business. This 'job' taught me alot about being a buyer. I absolutely love turning a salesman upside down and inside out and watching him change colours. Having been there and done that, now I can turn the tables and feed it all back to the salesfolk who regard themselves/product as uniquely there own...I don't think you should have this....Up here in Canada, and a small town to boot, one seller of Polaris, and its kind of fun to make the sales guys squirm. they know I could drive 200 miles to a bigger city and get whatever I want, but do they want the follow up service and word of mouth advertising that works well in a small town? All I can really say is that my dealer is happy he sold me a Polaris quad, but the downside is that his sled sales took a hit after everyone started seeing me everywhere in the winter as well.

We went to a local yamaha dealer the other day.We go there about twice a week.Even though we only have bought one qaud there(a used 250x and a used rm80)We are regular's I guess you could say.Anyway they had a new raptor sitting there and my dad asked about how they are selling and some other questions. The owner of the store just about totally ignored him.How does he know we don't have the money in hand to buy a new raptor!

But when we bought a 300ex new the smaller dealership was very nice and treated us well.My dad has been going there since they opened. And for most parts you have to prepay.I just tell the parts guy I am my dads son and he order's it no question's asked. When my dad is getting parts and I go look at the new qauds a sales person talks to me and shows me what I want to see.

But the only other yamaha dealer around here is about 50 miles away.So what are we to do.Drive 50 miles for some yamalube?

by the way the yamaha dealer's name is surdyke and just ask anyone in my area what they call them and they say surd#ck.HEHe

I'M BACK AGAIN!!!

I would just like to say that I absolutley will not spend my money there. Nor will I spend it at the other Polaris dealer 1 1/2 hrs away, nor at the Honda dealer or the other Honda dealer 2 hrs away, neither for a new or used quad of any make from any of these places.

If I do buy a new quad it will be a Polaris and I will buy it from the guy who is 1/2 hour away. He's the one I mentioned earlier who only had two quads on the floor at the last visit. I think not only will he give me the better deal, but he will also be the one to do any covered repairs, since he himself runs the repair shop and does more repairs than sales. Now I understand his situation. Everyone is happy with his service and therefore buy there new rides from him. He is always understocked because they sell as soon as they arrive. I got kind of mad several months ago when I went by because he was too busy to talk to me. But since, I figured out the whole thing and realized he was only trying to make his repair money. He was way backed up rebuilding Blasters and 250R's. The last 2 trips I have made, he has been courtious and has offered me a test ride on 2 quads. But, who knows if he will ever have what I want when I have the money.

The problem with dealers around here is that the demand is so high that they don't have to "sell" there quads. They aren't out on the floor trying to be informative or trying to earn business in any way. They are not having any sales trouble for not doing it either. They still have more buyers than incoming quads.

WHY FISH WITH A POLE AND BAIT WHEN THE FISH ARE LITTERALY JUMPING IN THE FRIGGIN' BOAT?????????

There are too many people walking in, kicking the tire on a quad and forking out the cash or asking "what will it cost me a month? It is a dealers market around here, not a buyers market. I'll probably end up finding a used quad that meets my standards before I get a chance to buy new.

CaptNemo, the only dealer in hattiesburg I've gone into has been the Honda dealer. I believe that the yahama dealer in hattiesburg is the largest in the state. I think he sells polaris also and this must be the one you're talking about. If that's him then my cousin drove from jackson to buy from him about four years ago and he left a happy customer.

Good job. I hope the owner chewed that sales guy butt.

Our Polaris dealer who sales Kawasaki, Suzuki sales people are the same way. They always seem to busy to answer questions yet there is never anyone in the shop. This dealer is local. We drove 40 miles to the Yamaha, Honda, Arctic dealer to do business this past March. It makes you wonder how many customers these dealers lose by being so arrogant.
