No power SP700?????

Heres whats happening to my 2004 SP700 with only 350 miles on it. Its starts and idles ok. But has no power, crack the throttle wide open and you have to hold it there to get the rpms up(in nuetral). Sometimes if I hold it steady at 3000 or more rpm it will "clear up" and the power comes back until I let off and it goes down to idle again. It reminds of a car with a wet distributor cap or bad plug wires. I pulled the plugs and they did not look bad, I went to get new ones for the hell of it, but they did not have them in stock. Choke is functioning properly, and the weird thing is it idles ok, right around 1000 rpm where it has always been. What could it be? The gas is fresh, ??????

maybe you have a partialy pluged main jet. it almost sounds like its strving for gas when you give it to it. just a guess. maybe fuel filter is plugged.

If you never changed the plug wires I think that would do it. rev it while looking at the wires you may see some fire from it. I had to change mine twice already. both times came after submerging it in mud and water for long periods of time.

Ok, I take it back. I took it out tonight and it ran terrible. Absolutley no power. Earlier today when it was running, I sprayed carb clean in the air intake and the rpms increased and ran great for a second, then back to no power. This tells me its starving for fuel. Changed fuel filter still no help. I tried to remove the carb bowl, but the screw heads were stripping out they were sooo tight. So i put it back together and left it alone. This sucks. I hate this polaris, I had more problems in 350 miles then I could count on both hands!

check the boot between the carb and motor for cracks. Loosen the carb mounting bracket and start the motor, wiggle the carb around and see if it changes tune , the boot cracks on the bottom side so if you push down on the carb ever so slightly while its running it should be better. If I remeber right the boot is about 30.00 bucks.
