2-stroke 300 xplorer wont start
Thanks Stendori!
I hate and saddens me to be the deliverer of negative news.
It is just a precaution, something to look closely at.
If there is blow back into the carb and it made some strange noise before quitting, that is the only thing I can think of and agree with all that replied.
One thing I did forget to mention about checking the connecting rod.
It must be measured from the machined gasket surface of the bottom end case where it meets jug relative to the wrist pin of the piston.
Using a Dial gauge, both sides of the wrist pin should be equal distance relative to this machined gasket surface. Tolerances should be found in the repair manual!

Well here's the scoop:
The cylinder is scored pretty good around the exhaust port.
When I pulled the piston the forward facing side (exhaust) was worn badly, and the rings on that side are pretty much gone.
So everything goes out to the machinest tomorrow, new belt and the kid will be throwing mud before next weekend!
Thanks everyone for your help.

Did you find out what it was
Time to ask for help.
My son's 300 Xplorer (2-stroke) just quit while riding on the ice saturday.
We have spark, and fuel.
It just wont even try to fire.
I've shot starting fluid into the carb intake, and tried to prime the cylinder with a shot of fuel.
One thing I'm not sure of is there is just a bit of back pressure through the carb back into the airbox, while cranking the starter. Not a lot, but enough to blow some fuel mist back into the airbox where it will puddle up.
He claims it made no strange noises before it died.
Any suggestions?
Thanks ahead of time all
