I need to know how I can make this critter faster . It already has White Bros. exhaust on it and different jets. What else can be done to this model ? Is anyone known for big cams, bore kits, larger carbs ? I need a person that "been there,done that" and need to talk with them.

You emailed me on a sport 400, then I responded and what's up. do you still have it? Any ways on the 500 clutching can make a huge difference, I did some work on a sportsman 500 that now lifts the front end.. Doc

 

The last time you emailed me , you said that the condition it was in, it had to be really cheap . The guy that has it , has decided to fix it . Kinda one of the $ pits that you can't afford to get rid of and really can't afford to fix but go ahead and fix it . Know what I mean ?

I have been there done that . (have owned a 97 and a 99 scram 500)

I have been around most all the mods for this machine and have'nt been all that impressed . It's not the tuners fault , it's the engine itself - more specifically the head .

Save your $$ and piddle with the clutch a little , it will help a bit .

And -- LOL -- Don't vent the airbox lid unless you want to spend $115 to make it run right .

The best mod I have done is the TEAM roller secondary and reclutch the primary to where I like it.1900-2000 engagment and top rpm of 6510 down from 6770( too close to pushing the limits of the motor)
You have to remember the 500 isnt a "fast"
' bike but a trail machine with lots of grunt.
