Well my lighting problem turned out to be the BLACK BOX part # 4011110 E.C.M. or rectifier not sure on the actual name though!!!
Only just over 900 miles and my 6 months was up at the end of Dec/06.
This is made in China and labeled "Sure Power Industries, Inc.
Keep and eye on these they have Heat sinks or cooling fins on them and mine was filled with dirt and mud!!
This may cause them to overheat just like the ones they had the recall on.....

My problem was that the quad would not start with the light switch on!!!!
Quad would start with it off...But will stall when the light swith was turned on.....
Kepp that in mind ...I bet we never seen the last of this problem...
When I pay the $130.00 canadian for this part.....and later a recall is issued(lets say) do I loose my money? how does that work? If a recall is out AFTER you bought the part......I guess you **** out of luck......RIGHT!!!!!....Caper..........There some info for you Polaris riders out there.......
I lucky I had a spare 2006 sitting in my Garage to swap them........otherwise it would needed to go to the dealer for service!!!!!!...So next time you go out and buy a Polaris...GET TWO.....one to ride and one for a spare..........Ooops did I say that out loud!!!!!...I forgot I am on the Polaris Forum...LOL...LOLCaper....

 

Just another note here ...Part # 4011110 is now replaced with 2203348.......Caper.......

 

thats the part number i told you was 115.00 us. its the recifier. wierd that, that was the problem.

 

Yeh...Put the one from my wife's on mine...It works fine!!!....Caper.......Put mine on hers to try...Did the same.....

 

thats not ecm, its the rectifier by the part number you had. i looked it and it comes up as that. i'll have to keep an eye on my wifes.

 

Check my other forums and I put some more info on them ...Ex where to find the...what it looks loke..etc...

How many miles on your wif's 450?.............Mine around 960 miles I think!!!!.........not much for a major part like that to fail.......in my view.........I will be thinking about my wife's on the way out next!!!!!!

she has about 450 miles. im surprised that the rectifer actually made lights act that way. didnt you say you checked the out put to the battery while it was running and it was around 14 volts? maybe w/ a load on it it started breaking down?? hopefully it did do anything to your battery's life.

 

It must be more than just the recifier............I had one go bad on my snowmobile and the bulbs blew out because it shold keep the voltage from going too high!!!!!!!!!!.....This was shutting the quad off he told me because it was sensing the amperage was too high when the lights were turned on!!!!!1
So it must do more than just a recifier.........This has three plug ins and about 15 wires my snowmobile one only had two in total!!!!.......Caper......

 

No it had no effect on the batery.......The winch worked fine!!!!!!!quad started fine (lights off)
It did not go through the module........I think it only sensed the items that were going through the electronics on the quad......I mean not the add on ...I did have a 12 volt electric knife plugged in the 12 volt outlet ......That should not have damaged it though!!!!!

 

well it still sounds wierd. after all, it only has the job of controlling the amount of volage going into the battery so it wont overcharge it or put too many volts thru the bike to blow lights. i had that happen on a few sleds yrs ago. damn electronics, hard to say these days about any of them. lol
