700 spark problems
I just put on a regulator rectifier. because it wasn't charging. I thought I had it fixed because it ran great plowing snow but only for 10 min. or so. Then it started acting like it was running out of gas and died. So I went thew the carb and reset the flout level and replaced the boot between the engine and carb. I went out and tryed it agin and it did the same thing. So I brought it back in and started checking other things and found I have no spark. The wires were different on the new reg. but the old one was aftermarket that I put on 2 years ago. I just don't know were to go from here any help would be greatly appreciated. Buy the way it is a 03 polaris 700

I was reading your message and had to call my husband because he had what sounds like the exact same problem.
Very frustrating, we were 3 miles back in the woods when it happened.
Here is what he said (I'm trying to write while he talks):
He had broken wires (smaller gauge) coming off the trigger coil at the rubber plug in the crank case. To fix it he had to pull the flywheel, splice with heavier guage wire (solder & shrinkwrap) through to about 6-10 inches above the rubber plug and then go back down to the smaller wire. He also said to tell you there was an update for the breather hose from valve cover to breather box, if you don't have it, you should be able to get it free from your dealer. He said he would be happy to talk to you about it if you want, give me a PM and we can exchange phone #'s.

I took it to the dealer today. He said he got a little bit of time to look at it today. He said the coil pack checked out great. But the stator didn't until it cooled down agin then it was working fine agin. He said he was going to go into it further tomorrow when he had more time. If it turns out to be the stator I may end up trying to do it my self to save a couple bucks. Because from what I hear it can get very expensive just for the part alone.

The dealer called back and said that it will need the stator.Out the door roughly 650.00 to 700.$ I told him to go ahead didn't want to dig that deep in the engine my self because of other things that I have torn apart in the garage trying to get the snow moved. Since I don't have the 700 to move it. what are ya going to do "when it rains it pours".Thank you for the help.
