Gear and trans oil substitutes
#1
Hi folks.
I have a 2004 Polaris Sportsman 600. I am getting ready to do the trans and diff service, but would like to find a substitute for the "premium" oils that polaris recommends, preferably fluids available at maybe TSC (Tractor Supply), one of the many auto parts places, or WalMart.
If you are wondering why, its because I am a little pissed off at the dealers in my area. Called tofday to get a price and availability on a crankcase drain plug. $14 and change (not including copper seal), plus it will take a week. Stopped at another dealer afterwork today and picked up what I was looking for for less than $8 out the door. Unfortunately, they did not have the fluids in stock. So I am set to do the service this weekend, but no fluids....
Suggestions greatly appreciated.
