Got on my 2000 Magnum 4x4 325 yesterday, shifted to reverse, and off she went. I can hold down the override button and she'll start, but second I let loose while in reverse it shuts off. Guessing it's the switch, but thought I'd post the situation here to see if anyone had any other ideas. Thanks for any help.

 

Do you mean the second you let off the override switch while in reverse it shuts off?

Yes....the very second. Will NOT start in reverse either...just cranks and cranks. Push in the override, and it starts.

 

It's supposed to , you have to hold the button down while in reverse

 

Your reverse override black box is bad. Unhook it or replace it.

 

i know with mi trailblazer when i unplugged the over ride one day i went out and started it up and it when it was in foward it would spit and sputter and back fires so i hooked it back up and ran fine

 

I know that......But it's supposed to "stutter" while button is not depressed in reverse.....not shut off.

 

hmm mayed then it is the over ride box

 

i would guess that the switch is ssome how grounding out causung the engine to shut down.

 

My engine was shutting off also..........when the lights were turned on.......It was the SURE POWER IND.black box ......This controls a number of things!!!
I was lucky enought to have a spare 2006 sportsman 450 sitting there for parts(my wife's) to do the swap and see what the problem was!!!!!! Oh, I almost forgot...I need to put the old one(hers to begin with) back in hers and the NEW one will go in mine....
