I would sat that 180- 200 would be about normal. I think the fan will come on at about 190, but I'm not 100%

hey bear500 - you say you used the hot temp lead wire? does that eliminate having to install a new temp sensor? I would like to put in a water gauge but I didnt want to tap into anything but if I can just use that wire - that would be awesome.

can you tell me how you did it? I never installed one.

I have a gauge in my 06 500 and I think the fan comes on at 190. I just installed the gauge so I'm not 100% but maybe 95%...

brutus, it's honestly been about 2 years since i installed the gauge but if i remember correctly, i just tapped into the engine block where the factory thermostat was. i simply took the factory one out and installed the one that came with my temp gauge. as far as electrical, i believe i just tapped into any wire that was hot when the ignition was on and that is what powered it. i am sure some of these guys on here have done the same thing and can tell you exactly how to do it. or do a search for adding a temp gauge, there are some very knowledgable people on here that will help. good luck- PB500

I think disconnecting the stock temp sensor would be a big no no if it's an EFI.

I've put these things on mine and am real happy with them. http://www.quadovator.com/902058.html

Had some minor fogging issues, but installation is real easy if you have the tap and proper tap drill (1/8" NPT?)
You lose very little anti-freeze doing this (maybe cup or two), and it's really nice to watch the temp if you've been in the mud.
